Now let us bracktrack to the day when the O Level results were released.
I made my way to school with trepidation. I measured each step scrupulously, hoping to prolong the inevitable. Finally, I made it to school with a familiar sense of foreboding prickling my skin. My friends were all in the hall. I sat down quietly, hoping that the worst was not to happen. 30 minutes later, the results was announced. All around me, students were either trying to conceal their fears by putting up a brave front or openly displaying their uncertainty. Some broke cold sweat, while others just smile. I saw my friends either screaming with joy when they saw their results, or slinking away in schocked and shame when it was not good. I could feel my heart beating faster as the queue shortened to bring me closer to the front.
The Principal announced the Top Student for Secondary 5NA. It was Pei Shi. Actually, everyone was very certain that Pei Shi would ace the exam, for she was definitely a cut above the rest in her studies and to cap it all, she was also the most diligent among us. Congratulations, Pei Shi and I'm very certain you'll be able to enter to the Business course that you're interested in.
I trembled with fear as Mr Solehan handed me my result slip. I took the slip. When I saw my result slip, a whoop of joy escaped me. I grabbed Nadia and Ju and hugged them, so delirious with joy I was.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE - B3
COMBINED HUMANITIES - D7
MATHEMATICS - C6
SCIENCE (PHY/BIO) - A2
PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTS - C6
MALAY - B3
MALAY (ORAL/AURAL) - DIST
I was practically screaming with joy when I saw a B3 for English and a distinction for Science, which I was unable to get throghout the year in Sec5. However,my face was clouded over with shocked and disbelieve with the grade I attained for Combined Humanities. Certainly, I did lay down the notes and memorise almost everything in the textbook. Moreover, I never failed my Combined Humanities since Sec3. It was one of my favourite subjects, truth be told. Indeed I am crestfallen. ):
And I thought I could do better for Mathematics and POA since I attended tuition. Sigh.
After much consideration, I finally submitted my JAE application to Polytechnic via the Internet. It took me a few days to really decide on the courses. Thanks, Ayah & Mama who have been such a great help. (:
